PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh is a private company that manages ecosystem restoration concessions. PT ABT has been granted a Business License for Forest Utilization (PBPH) which covers two separate blocks of state production forests totaling 38,665 hectares (BKPM Chief Decree No: 7/1/IUPHHK-HA/PMDN/2015) in Tebo Regency, Jambi Province. The area managed by PT ABT serves as a buffer zone for Bukit Tigapuluh National Park and is an important part of the Bukit Tigapuluh ecosystem. PT Panda Lestari and the Sumatra Forest Ecosystem Conservation Foundation (KEHUS) are shareholders in PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh.

This location is the only natural forest ecosystem where three key endangered Sumatran species live together, namely the Sumatran Tiger (Phantera Tigris Sumatrae), the Sumatran Elephant (Elephas Maximus Sumatranus), and the Tapir (Tapirus Indicus). The PT ABT concession area is also a reintroduction site for the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii), which has been ongoing since 2001.

For the well-being of the community, ABT strives to restore the balance of the ecosystem as a habitat for protected species, providing vital components for life, and generating Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). The PT ABT concession forest serves as a source of livelihood for the surrounding communities, namely the Melayu Tuo who reside on the outskirts, the Talang Mamak who reside within the area, and the Suku Anak Dalam who lead a nomadic lifestyle.

VISION

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh aims to be the best and innovative executor of tropical forest ecosystem restoration, based on strong support and collaboration from stakeholders, while serving as the primary reference for successful forest ecosystem management in Indonesia.

MISSION

To successfully restore and preserve forest ecosystems within the ecosystem restoration concession area, including biodiversity values, river basin functions, and carbon reserves.
To establish partnerships with communities inside and around the concession area to provide ecosystem restoration and preservation, promote job growth opportunities and employment for the local community.
To coordinate, collaborate, and build relationships with stakeholders regarding the integrity of the ecosystem restoration concession area and buffer zone in the management of the restoration area in a sustainable manner.
To contribute to the improvement of public awareness, science, government policies and regulations, and the implementation of ecosystem restoration management in Indonesia, and to function as a leading member of the ecosystem restoration concession holder association.

PROGRAM HISTORY

May 2009

Thanks to the support of stakeholders in the Bukit Tigapuluh area, the Bukit Tigapuluh Implementation Plan document was finalized. This management plan covered the entire 400,000 ha area known as the Bukit Tigapuluh Ecosystem (EB30), including the area that is currently the location of PT ABT's concession.

September 2011

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh was officially established.

September 2012

A series of socializations regarding the Ecosystem Restoration Business Plan of PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh was conducted at the Tebo Regent Office, followed by meetings with the government and communities in seven villages, namely Pemayungan Village, Muaro Sekalo Village, Semambu Village, Muaro Kilis Village, Lubuk Mandarsah Village, Suo Suo Village, and Balai Rajo Village.

July 2015

The Business Permit for Forest Product Utilization - Ecosystem Restoration of PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh was issued to manage an area of 38,665 ha, divided into two blocks, Block I covering 22,095 ha and Block II covering 16,570 ha, for a period of 60 years.

September 2015

The formation and coordination meeting of the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) for ecosystem restoration activities in the IUPHHK-RE of PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh in Tebo Regency, Jambi Province, was conducted.

2017

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh signed a Village Agreement together with Suo Suo Village, which outlined the rights and obligations in protecting the forest area from illegal activities. This agreement also emphasized mutual understanding and commitment to sustainable utilization.

2018

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh signed a Village Agreement together with Muaro Kilis Village to solidify the joint commitment to protect the forest area from illegal activities, ensuring sustainable utilization by the community.

July 2019

With the support of The Orangutan Project, PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh initiated a supplementary food program for students of the Remote Class Elementary School in Simerantihan.

2020

PT ABT began diversifying its non-timber forest product business by developing a honey tracking system within the concession forest and benefiting local communities.

June 2021

PT ABT menandatangani Naskah Kesepatan Kerjasama (NKK) dengan Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Wono Lestari untuk Kemitraan Kehutanan.

November 2021

PT ABT menandatangani Naskah Kesepatan Kerjasama (NKK) dengan masing-masing Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Bukit Keramu Alam dan KTH Alam Bukit Sejahtera untuk Kemitraan Kehutanan.

Desember 2023

PT ABT menandatangani Naskah Kesepakatan Kerjasama (NKK) Kemitraan Kehutanan dengan 4 KTH (Kelompok Tani Hutan), yaitu KTH Purwo Makmur Desa Muara Kilis, KTH Dualapan Bersatu Desa Balai Rajo, KTH Pasar Klewer Desa Suo Suo, dan KTH Bukit Terang Mandiri Talang Mamak Dusun Simerantihan Desa Suo Suo.
